Like clockwork every year, the Taste of Edina gets bigger and better. More vendors, more food and more people come each time.
The people part is what really makes this event fun for me. While the Taste of Edina grows every year, it is still small enough to permit direct interaction with chefs, restaurant owners and their staff. I learn so much chatting with the food pros about their art.
Food, Glorious Food Samples
The chance to sample food from 25 places is a big draw too. Last year, desserts were everywhere. It was a time to overdue. Sandy Oh’s Cupcakes spiked with a splash of spirits were so deliciously innovative. The blizzard cups from Edina-based Dairy Queen Corp. made me want to go back for more. I went over the sugar edge and enjoyed every morsel!
The crew from Pizza Lucé was especially engaging. They truly love their pizza. What’s not to love about a veggie and protein packed, cheesy, Italian spiced pie from Pizza Lucé?
Red, Red Wine and Whites Too
Sample a few of the more than 70 wines Edina Liquor will have on hand. Discover a new favorite wine. Knowledgeable sommeliers can guide your way.
Reasonable Ticket Prices
Everything seems to go up but the Taste of Edina still is reasonable. In advance tickets are $30; parking is free. Other food shows I have attended cost more for tickets and parking fees, had longer lines and little to no face time with the vendors.
Sponsored by the Edina Chamber of Commerce and business partners, the Taste of Edina is a community building event. I like to patronize local places. All Taste of Edina vendors are located in and around Edina.
The new cake decorating competition and chef cooking challenge will be entertaining to watch. What food drama will unfold?
Prepare for Intense Sampling
There is much food fun to be had at the Taste of Edina. Just be sure to come hungry.
Location, Location, Location
This year the location is moving from the outdoorsy Centennial Lakes pavilion (run by the City of Edina) to the sleek, modernesque Westin Hotel in the Galleria. The 2014 Taste of Edina will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on May 15 at 3201 Galleria, Edina, MN 55435; (952) 567-5000.
